Outreach

St. Paul’s is a mission minded congregation.  Consequently, outreach is important to our parish.  We are actively involved in Habitat for Humanity; ESL (English as a Second Language); 15 Place Homeless Soup Kitchen; Ecumenical Ministries of Baldwin County; Interfaith Hospitality Network; Guatemala/Dominican Republic Medical/Dental/Construction missions; ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development); Alcoholics Anonymous; ALANON; Boy Scouts; and Wilmer Hall Children’s Home. St. Paul’s has also been active in helping Episcopal congregations rebuild after their properties was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  This has led to our active and ongoing involvement with the Mississippi Gulf Coast rebuilding efforts through Camp Coast Care in Long Beach, Mississippi.

Our most successful outreach activity to date is our Thrift Shop.  It generates more than $100,000.00 annually, most of which is donated back to the community. After expenses, this translates into almost $75,000.00 a year in contributions to support our various foreign missions, scholarships for needy students, Wilmer Hall Children’s Home, and the local community.  Besides financial support, our sixty or so volunteers minister to many of the customers who come there searching for affordable clothes and appliances.
